Scan Vendor Codes

Scan the vendor's barcode or QR code that comes with assets and add assets with the same code. For example, you can scan the service tag barcode printed on a laptop.

Role Required: SDAdmin or users with Add Inventory permissions

Steps to Scan Vendor Codes

  1. Click the Scan field and scan the vendor barcode/QR code. You can also enter the code manually and press Enter to add it to Scanned Items.

  2. Select a Product Type and Product. Click to add a product.

  3. For Computer and Workstation product types, select Barcode/QR code as Service Tag to map the generated barcode/QR code value to the Service Tag field.

  4. Select a Site to associate the scanned assets.

  5. Enter the Location of the asset.

  6. Add comments, if required. Comments will be displayed in History.

  7. Click Add Assets.

The scanned barcode value will be saved as the asset name.

 

 

The Asset Addition Status section displays the number of assets added.
