Scan settings

To access Scan Settings, go to Admin->Discovery->Scan Settings.

General settings

In the General Settings tab, you can configure various discovery-related settings as discussed below.

Configure Invalid Service Tags

While performing a scan, the Workstations and Servers are uniquely identified based on their Service Tag and Name. If the service tags are incorrectly configured by the OEM, then there is a possibility that different machines have the same service tag. In such cases, if a scan is performed, one workstation detail would be overwritten by the other. To avoid this, you can add the service tag under the Invalid Service Tag list such that, the workstations with the service tag are ignored. To add invalid service tags, click Add New, enter the service tag you want, and click Add.

Scan software in Solaris, and AIX machines

This option allows you to enable/disable scanning software in Solaris, and AIX machines. By default, this option is disabled as licensed software products are minimal in these machines.

Disable Ping

By default, machines can be pinged despite any background process. This option allows you to disable pinging during the scan, remote control, and AD user import.

Add Unknown Assets

This option allows you to enable or disable adding unknown assets detected during the scan to the inventory.

Delete/Dispose Workstations and Servers

This option allows you to delete or move workstations and servers to disposed state if they have not been scanned in a specified number of days.

sysname over DNSname

This option allows you to prioritize sysName over the DNSName for choosing the deviceName for a node during SNMP scan.

Schedule based Software Compliance Calculation

By enabling this checkbox, Software Compliance can be calculated by scheduling them at required time intervals. By default, the schedule is set to 30 minutes. If this checkbox is not enabled, then the Software Compliance will be calculated instantly with the scan process. During the scheduled calculation process, the scan will not be performed.

Exclude IP/Device

In this tab, you can add a list of devices that you want to be excluded from scanning. The devices can be configured by their name, IP, or range of IP addresses.

Auto Site Allocation

Under Auto Site Allocation, you can associate asset IP addresses with specific sites.

To associate IP addresses with sites,

For bulk association, click Import XLS and follow the above instructions.

This configuration will not work for distributed asset scan.
In a single configuration, you can add multiple IP addresses in supported formats separated by commas. For example, 192.168.23.132,192.168.23.140-192.168.23.150, 172.3.4.50-250.

After you configure, a full asset scan will run, followed by partial scans every six hours. Assets within the configured IP addresses will be assigned to their corresponding sites.

During partial scans, the site is assigned or updated only for:

The sites are updated dynamically based on assets’ location at the time of the scan.
