Asset State

Asset state indicates the status of assets in the organization or the various stages an asset goes through during its life cycle (e.g., In Use, In Store, Disposed).

ServiceDesk Plus includes a set of default asset states. You can also create custom asset states as required.

Default Asset States

Asset State

Definition

In Use

Assets that are currently in use.

In Store

Assets that are procured but not yet used.

In Repair

Assets that are damaged and need repair.

Expired

Assets that are removed from the active asset list.

Disposed

Assets that are removed from the active asset list.

To be Returned

Assets that have not yet been returned by deleted users (e.g., a user who leaves the organization).

Assets in Expired and Disposed states will not consume license. The license will change from consumed to free once assets are moved to these states.
Assets in the To Be Returned state cannot be loaned or auto-assigned.

Edit/Delete Asset State

To edit or delete asset states, click against an asset state in the list view and select the respective option.

You can also bulk delete asset states by selecting them using the checkboxes and clicking on the toolbar.

Default asset states cannot be deleted and the names of the default states cannot be modified.

Asset State Filter in List View

Assets can be filtered by their state in the assets list view.

Disposed assets will not be included in custom reports. However, you can apply the disposed assets filter (from the All Assets filter) in the asset list view and then export.
